Ordinary carbon steel Q235 has low price and excellent process properties (such as weldability and cold formability). High quality carbon structural steels, such as 45, 65Mn and 08F, are mostly used to manufacture non alloy steels for important mechanical parts, which are generally used after heat treatment. 08F, good plasticity and low strength, is used for stamping parts such as automobile and instrument shell; 20 good plasticity and weldability, is used for parts with low strength requirements and carburized parts, such as hood, welded container, small shaft, nut, washer and carburized gear; 45, 40Mn, with good comprehensive mechanical properties after quenching and tempering, is used for mechanical parts with large stress, such as gears, connecting rods, machine tool spindles, etc; 60 and 65Mn steel have high strength, and are used for manufacturing various springs, locomotive rims and low-speed wheels.
Carbon tool steel has high strength, hardness and good wear resistance. It is suitable for manufacturing all kinds of low-speed cutting tools.
T7, T8: make parts that bear certain impact and require toughness. Such as sledgehammer, punch, chisel, woodworking tools, scissors.
T9, T10, T11: manufacturing tools with low impact and high hardness and wear resistance. Such as tap, small drill bit, die, hand saw blade.
T12, T13: making tools free from impact. Such as file, scraper, razor and measuring tool.
The casting property of cast steel is worse than that of cast iron, but the mechanical property is better than that of cast iron; It is mainly used to manufacture important mechanical parts with complex shape and high requirements for mechanical properties, which are difficult to be formed by forging and other methods, such as automobile gearbox shell, locomotive coupler and coupling, etc.
