Assembly and welding are two interrelated manufacturing processes with their own processing contents in metal structure manufacturing.
Generally speaking, assembly is the process of assembling the processed parts into the product structure by appropriate methods according to the requirements of the product drawing, while welding is the process of firmly connecting the assembled structure into a whole by using the specified welding methods and welding processes: for some complex metal structures, it is always through multiple assembly. The cross process of welding can be completed, and some products even have to be reassembled and welded on site. Assembly and welding play an important role in the whole metal structure manufacturing process.

Assembly welding technology is an operation method to assemble and connect two or more base materials [workpiece to be welded] into a whole by using welding material [electrode or welding wire] under high temperature or high pressure. Welding technology is mainly applied to metal base materials. Common welding technologies include arc welding, argon arc welding, CO2 shielded welding, oxygen acetylene welding, laser welding, electroslag pressure welding and so on.
